The STEM Magnet School at Annie Fisher is an advanced academic program focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students receive a rigorous, academically challenging curriculum with intense science and math instruction. Teachers use an innovative, hands-on inquiry approach for instruction in all content areas. Students at STEM not only receive a state of the art education but are also immersed in a nurturing and collaborative environment that is built on a partnership between the home, school, and the community. Upon completion of the STEM at Annie Fisher curriculum, students will be offered a preference into University High School of Science & Engineering.

What Does STEM Have to Offer?

  • The new state-of-the-art facility that has been specifically designed to support STEM education.
  • Students will have extensive laboratory experiences using the most contemporary technologies
    for scientific inquiry, mathematical calculation, and engineering design
  • The school is partnered with the Connecticut Science Center for teacher professional development and student experiential learning opportunities.
  • Engineering is Elementary (EiE) – one of the first engineering curricula in the U.S designed for elementary school-aged children.
  • Science Fair participation for all grades.
  • Extended day programming allows students to participate in STEM-based activities and clubs such as: Robotics, Technology Club and Lego Competitions.
  • Project Lead the Way’s Gateway to Technology – a pre-engineering program that provides curriculum and support to middle schools nationwide. The goal is to help students interested in engineering make the transition into high school and college engineering programs. Courses include: Design and Modeling, The Magic of Electrons, The Science of Technology, Automation and Robotics and Flight and Space.
